Woah!
Yeah, I'll get on it soon. It's hard to overlook some of the connections, so it's far from merely cosmetic. The closest inspiration to being merely cosmetic is Zhuangzi (you see the same golden butterflies denoting dreams/illusions in the first two Persona games), and even that goes far (for all the people who actually connect Umineko to Cartesian philosophy).

And yes, trust >>18900130. The Divine Comedy is one of the great intellectual achievements in all of mankind, and it has had such an impact on arts and society after (and on previous works retroactively) that ignoring it is like ignoring Faust or the bible in your literary journey. Of course, you won't effectively absorb the work without its inspirations. It's important to understand the arts not as independent, transient phenomena, like distant stars whose light is only experienced years after they first glimmer, persisting for millennia beyond, but as a sort of sublime melody, with passages and keys in flux, always building on each other. The distinct starlights refer to the arts on a microscopic scale, but together, those distinct grains of sand form an atomic shore.

And yeah, Umineko uses the Italian pronunciation of Beatrice, which may surprise people who think the c is universally pronounced like an s.
