Polygamy is made legal, and cultural resistance is eroded by individuals in high power flaunting their harems.
The overall outcome for women is worse, but for individual women who got the one man they were actually gunning for they get their reward for the effort they put into being an ideal woman (or removing any more ideal women) and more perfectly fulfill their Darwinian desires more than they would have otherwise.

While this wouldn't entirely eliminate women being able to experience day-to-day life with less toil and humiliation than the average man (is this ideal?), this would remove a lot of the motivation a woman may have to settle with a lower man merely because he does all the right things and provides, but still being romantically unsatisfied otherwise.
