The book actually is a really good read. Obviously it's a sci-fi thriller, but it has some real good war psychology in there. The Mobile Infantry are explained to use power armour and minature H-bombs to do what they do, which is violence applied with surgical percision instead of the more obvious orbital bombardment to reduce a whole planet to glowing plasma. It's explained pretty well in fact, well worth the $15 or whatever to buy a paperback.
