"I really can't take you anywhere." Goro joked aloud as I flipped over the last ornate spire on the path toward the little Hell Palace, to the angst of the defeated guards we'd left in our wake.

"Trust me, they'll love it." I said, while pulling a little hell fairy out of her hiding spot. "Won't they squirt?"

"Hmph, both of you are gonna get it when Master see's what you've done!" she said with a huff.

"Oh, don't be like that little one, we won because I've seen you at work before!" Goro told her.

"Eh? I don't remember fighting some short woman and her eccentric robe wearing boy toy! Ow!" She exclaimed, as I gave her a solid knock on her head.

"We didn't fight, I watched you at the fireworks festival way back when. You put on quite the show! Drove me and my Father nuts!" Goro smiled.

Years ago, Reimu put on a sort of Danmaku festival that me and some other freaks hijacked, I suppose Goro was only a child back then. Good times, and come to think of it, I hadn't seen some of those faces in quite a while...

"Stupid, I'm not going to forgive you just cause' you complimented me!" Clownpiece yelled, despite the brat clearly falling for it.

"Well you can tell the Hell God all about how we abused you yourself then, come on, you can ride me." Goro said, taking a knee and offering his back to the girl.

"I'm not gonna-" I gave her collar the slightest of tugs "-fine, but your gonna be really sorry!"

Roughly, clownpiece jammed her foot into Goro's back, scaled his body, and straddled his head, almost causing him to fall forward as he stood up.

"Cirno told me if your gonna ride someone you gotta be the tallest after all." The blonde creature said matter-of-factly.

"Sure, the nutty fairy riding high for all to see." Goro said in a singsong tone.

As we climbed the last leg of the path I couldn't help but think, I haven't ever been carried by Goro and this girl, who's he's just met for the first time get's to ride on his shoulders! Oh, I know what he's thinking 'what a cute fairy' right? Little shits probably caused more lethal accidents then victims of actual Youkai attacks. No, he should know better...

Oh! A ploy! Goro, you sly devil, you've taken a hostage! Hecatia favors Clownpiece after all and even if worse comes to worse, and that straight forward murder woman Junko is around, she'll also probably hesitate long enough for us to come up with something.

Still, I wasn't going to let that little jerk monopolize my property like that, so I knabbed his arm and pushed myself against him. Clownpiece didn't seem to care, drumming on Goro's head like she was trying to compose a song, whatever, when this was all over I could force him to be my personal horse. It's going to be extremely embarrassing for him, maybe I can even goad him into walking me up to the Buddhist temple steps!

"You have to use a special knock to open the place, here let me..." Clownpiece said, reaching for the door.

I snapped my fingers and the doors flipped from closed to open. "All my rhythms are one-beat." I remarked to the little fairies disappointment.

The palace's interior was an offense to the sense. The base of the building was a sort of gothic cathedral, but the piers were all painted with saturated colors that were cracking with age, the triforiums contained an amateurish mural that told an incoherent story were hell's residents and the repeated annihilation of the moon featured prominently, various gaudy ornaments hanged from high up in the ribs of the building, and the hall seemed to go on forever. I liked it.

"A little families' come to visit us! Quite unusual for us down here in Hell, Junko! come take a look!" A voice called.
