Press F12, and go to game settings, and max difficulty to 8.
Perhaps still not amazing, but it should keep it from being the worst you have seen.

I would say that it really depends on what kinds of projectiles you would want as there are many different projectiles of varying effects in this game.

Though I would say Petra Johanna Lagerkvist, her shots are fast and they bounce and keep coming.
Though I would rather play her because she is a dignified Swedish lady.
