I can see it now

The cracks of bullets flying mere inches over her head keep her pinned down behind a small rock. It is the only cover for dozens of meters, and with each impact it slowly gets chipped away. She knows this is it, that her brief yet painful existence will end here. There is no heaven or hell waiting for, just the empty void. Any minute now the enemy will smarten up and lob a grenade at her, she can feel it in her weak childish bones.

There is a lull in the oncoming fire, maybe they think she is dead? Hopefully they won't try to confirm it. She can hear the faint muffled sound of foot steps rapidly approaching. This is really it. She accepts her fate, but she will not accept dying without a fight! This disgustingly cruel world has given her nothing but pain, taking away her friends, her family, her hopes and dreams, and now her very life.

A snarl mars her once beautiful face. She steels herself for the final stand. With the last of her inhumane strength she throws herself out of cover, trigger wretched to the back of the finger guard.
>"DIE YOU SONS OF-"

Darkness. She can see nothing but darkness. The world feels like it is slipping away through her fingers. There is a warm sensation bubbling up in her chest. "So this is death?" she thinks to herself.

I am thinking of writing a paladin fic where the pally just goes around destroying monster girls because he is a pally and that is what he does. No smut, just character dev and violence. maybe in the end he can't kill one and falls in love, but that seems super cliche.
