Here's what I learned about UFO.
Learn the ufo's. Memorize when each color spawns, what's the best way to go about collecting them, etc.
If you're good at collecting ufo's then you don't even have to be good at dodging bullets. You can have max lives and bombs by the end of stage 3, and just keep getting more. Once you learn the ufo system, the game is so generous with resources it's not even funny.
The first time I 1cc'd it, I had a shitload of bombs and lives the first time I ever got up to Byakuren. I'd never seen any of her attacks before and I still won easily because I had so many lives and bombs. Not from playing well, but from destroying ufo's.
