It wouldn't work by any metric that's considered 'normal' by human standards, or even mamono for that matter. Keep in mind that based on Lovecraft's writings in ATMOM and various other authors of the expanded mythos, we know several things about them. Firstly, they're basically giant amorphous, protoplasmic masses of stem cells capable of creating and doing away with limbs and organs whenever they become obsolete. Secondly, they are at least capable of learning, either through mimicry ( Such as calling out 'Teke-li-li!' in the tongue of the Elder Things as a bait and switch ), or observation.

Cross managed to put a twist on this by also giving them the ability to create a facsimile of their own bio-mass commposed of inanimate material to better serve their masters and husbands. So, while they inherently *know* how to create stuff like towels, silverware, etc. either through genetic memory or observation, they'd suck ass at mimicking the body shapes of other mamono without knowing what they are first.

TL;DR: It'd be possible but at the end of the day a Shoggoth is still a Shoggoth.

If you want to make that less grimdark you could make the real husband the same as the one she daydreamed, her daydreaming was just her using her eldritch powers to think of her future husband without realizing it. Kind of like a reverse mana marker. Having her desire for love manifest into a real relationship sounds like something that that would fit right into mge. Also alot of the time people will give shoggs godlike powers which isn't exactly accurate for what was originally a mindless slave race. So having her use her Lovecraftian dream powers to predict the future unconsciously would be more in character
To be honest I always hated the whole "The entire story wasn't real trope" it just seems like a really lazy way to gutpunch the audience

The way I always looked at is that Chaos girls free you from your limitations in different ways. Shoggoth frees your body from all toil and physical harm. Mindflayer frees your mind from insecurities and obsessions. Wendigo frees your soul, by physically removing you from this reality into her coat.

At least, that's what I thought until Nacho, who i'm still trying to rationalize.

I always imagined that Shogs bodies are kind of fleshy and plump instead of slimy. Sort of like a meaty squid.

Obviously they have slime portions on them, and they can freely change the nature of their bodies at will, but I'm sure they have preferences on how they wear it.
