Even though IN is my least favorite Touhou game I must say that it have been the only game in the series with a nice scoring system.

ZUN have screwed up badly in the last two games when talking about point system. The final calculation of point is really badly done, mostly because they are based on mere weird penalizations.

Imperishable Night had the best point amount based spell cards, since in the latter games the spell cards don't have much a value (except extra stages), it doesn't matter if you fail the spell card you can get the same amount by collecting the point items.

Imperishable Night have its flaws, but it still nice to play to actually compare your scores with others and not having huge score gaps over little details.
