I started with otome games then eventually started reading some BL vns since I already liked BL manga/anime.

I haven't played too many vns but I think the other anons describe my feelings pretty well. I find that the writing in otome games, or at least Otomate's games, is often plain in comparison to the ambitious and unique plot lines in BL. A lot of people don't mind that and are happy as long as the romance is good. Personally though I want more than that. I want a good gripping story with an interesting protagonist like the ones I've seen in BL.

I'm hyped for stuff like Uchronia but I know I can't really expect anything out of the ordinary, you know? Excited to see where Voltage is heading after their mobage era
