You know, in all seriousness, while most people wouldn't recommend 11 to a beginner, a case could be made for it.
Yes, it's strict, but generally not unreasonably difficult. It certainly doesn't give you any crutches to lean on and form bad habits with.
It teaches some "creative" things, like moving all around the screen, dodging bullets from unusual directions, and not shooting during certain sections, to get you out of the mindset of "just stay glued to the bottom holding Z and praying the whole time".
It provides a variety of shot types to experiment with.
And finally, there's no particularly complex mechanic to worry about having to exploit. Grazing to auto-collect is not only simple and unobtrusive, but also mostly not necessary for survival.
It is a shame about Rin, though.
