How is he using 曲者 here? Just to mean "peculiar?" I feel like the community in Japan is quite on the up and up but maybe that's just my perception as an outsider. It's true though that gaming in general is quite unconventional to the typical office clerk world. Or I guess it could also be because it's people like なない who helped make it that way.
