also, bad japanese kigurumi are more common than claimed. we just choose to ignore them because it's easy. the only reason they look "better" than the west is that there's so many more of them, and they can support one another more directly by living near each other. when your only improvement input or access to other performers is purely on an online basis, quality can suffer. proof is in the texan kigs, are are all (most) comparable to the japanese kigurumi, and not bad at all
