Based, thanks for posting all of this anon. I changed the way I was doing things to integrate it, and I am already seeing results, and its been like eh, 2 days?
Reorganizing things to focus on useful sentences/fragments has greatly improved my retention, at least.

Well, not the girl part!
But eh, I enjoy the learning part. I love that rush when things click. I love that feeling of being a child ahain when you learn a word and its fun and exciting and you want to show it to everyone!
And part of what made me go off (sorry!) Its that it was 5 am after working out and I was super tired, (my bad!), but also, how miserable and depressed a lot of the people learning are.
It reminds me of the penitents in monty python who splat their face with a table periodically to expiate their sins.
At the end of the day, I think what matters, is having adventures and enjoying the journey.
