See, that's the thing, ReiNya. If they're sluts then they're no idols so there's no problem. Heads up, because I mainly lurk the idol threads so I'm sure you don't have a sense of where I'm coming from yet, I have a great deal of respect for all idols, not just my own. I will never be some nasty troll who comes in a puts down someone else's. I may critique from time-to-time but in general, this is all coming from a good place, because I am a fan.

...but you have to admit that in the history of Japanese pop music we've had more than a few disgraces. It's sucks because to the outside world that's a poor reflection on the good girls.

As far as idols and authenticity go, my personal reality with it all is that the image the idol projects is the idol herself. If she cares enough about herself, her fans, her music then that image will have a truth to it and that's all I need to know.

However, you're right. When they cake on the saccharine-smiles it makes the suspension of disbelief a bit difficult for some folks. I just think the jury's out on Kikkawa Yuu.
