GFW requires a good amount of routing, when and where to freeze, no way around that. Look at many different replays (perfect runs, score runs, speedruns) to learn all that can be done, and create a route. With some practice, you'll be able to reach the boss with zero or one misses, just using bombs. Emphasis on the scoring runs, the more freezes you can squeeze out of the stage, the more motivation, bombs, and shot power you'll have later on. For reference, on my clear I reached the boss with 674% Motivation, 88% Perfect Freeze, and 1599% Shot Power. Also, bomb the midboss's last attack to get rid of one of them ASAP, it's awful.
As for the boss, none of the spell cards are too, too hard, in my opinion, but it's rare that you'll have a run that does all of them perfectly. I'd recommend saving bombs for the trickier non-spells, Big Crunch, and Open Universe. Don't be afraid to stand over the light beams for a while on Shoot the Little Moon, Grand Cross, and the final spell; they're not that harmful, and you might save a bomb or avoid a death just by killing the boss faster. Not sure if this works well on this Extra, but maybe try to time-out Fairy Destruction Ray? Final spell time-outs have worked well for me on other Extra stages, so it's worth a try. It'll essentially change that spell card from a hard 60 second hell to an extremely hard 20 second hell. Could be worth doing.
It's one of the trickier Extras, but it's doable. It's mostly getting over the rough learning curve.
