I went last summer. Long trip but many times I felt joy simply being there. There's no other word for it. Sometimes the feeling was quiet and sustained, sometimes it was strong and pushed at my chest, but I was always happy to be there.

It was worth every moment. It was worth every dollar. I was so happy to just walk around and see the places that reminded me of the anime. I know that this was primarily because I had chosen to go there, made it a destination, and the difficulty of traveling made the reward sweeter, more worthwhile.

Many moments were thoroughly enjoyable. Seeing the overlook, strolling in town. We walked at night in the darkness, we walked through rain, we walked through sunshine. At night we walked through the hills, trying to find a damn restaurant that was open. The only thing we didn't do was walk down to the river. Maybe next time. The greatest highlight I think was seeing the shrine with all of the little pieces of art from fans. That made it real.

There was no capstone, no moment greater than that for.
