Waifuism as some sort of chan culture, sure. But concept of falling in love with fictional characters is way older than internet.

Anyway, I'm not talking about places like /a/'s Waifu Wednesday or collages or waifu-specific boards. These are places where you can meet actual waifufags. I'm talking about all these threads like "claim your waifu, remember no dups" "who is your waifu of the season" etc. where people are only memeing and they don't have serious long-term relationship with 2D girl. These are the places where people come up with these weird rules like "having sex life with your loved one is disrespectful" or put other rules on "love".
