I remember this. I'm a big fan of particle engines.
>I was working on one and used to post in ADGD threads, but the project is on hold now. I'm working on a bunch of smaller projects before I go back to it again
I am exactly like this. I want to keep working on mine but I have a lot of extra projects I'm busy with.

What is this wiki for? Are we supposed to put our games in it?

Inexperience is the biggest problem for me.

/jp/, I want your advice with jp-shmup. It seemed to go well in the stream, although there were a few strange bugs that weren't present before that I need to iron out. I'll be making sure to fix them shortly. I have a few changes that I've been meaning to change, but I'm not sure if they are good. First of all, I am thinking about removing the frame and making it look more like this: http://youtu.be/85bE4NlzrLE?t=34s

I did the math, and it turned out that the frame used 44% of the window. That's so much space that I could use for bullet-dodging action. One problem with this is that I wouldn't have any place to put UI elements such as the player's power or the score. I might have to embed them straight into the the game or put them right over the bullets. I don't like the idea of the player being able to touch the statistics while being in the game. Maybe this is a small complaint since it seems to work fine in other games, like ones by Cave. Another problem coming from this is that the window wouldn't be vertical anymore. It would be what we like to call a "vertizontal" shmup, since it would be vertically-oriented but wider than it is long. I could also make it more like the shooting games, or GFW, which would be a space in between.

Another thing I've been thinking about doing is changing the native resolution from 640x480 to twice that, which is 1280x960. This would allow me to have finer control of the graphics and some gameplay elements. The downside to this is that it would be detremental to performance and the higher resolution would prevent higher refresh rates on CRT's. Depending on my mood, I like to switch between 60, 85, and 120 hz on my CRT when playing Touhou. I would be stuck on 60hz with that kind of resolution, and I'd have to get a new CRT or modify my drivers to change it, which doesn't sound very convenient.
