Is it true that there are tons of carefree and happy VNs that are untranslated because translators only bother to work on the games that are grimdark?

I want to play more VNs, but they make me cry. If this is true then I have more motivation to learn Japanese.

I want to learn, but I have trouble finding the motivation. Almost all of my motivation is based on the existence of a type of eroge that I'm not even sure exists.

Is it true that there are thousands of light-hearted and cheerful eroge that never get translated?

I would devour every eroge I could get my hands on, but it has come to a point that 90% of translated eroge is so horribly depressing that I come away crying every time. I'm scared to even play eroge anymore because they're so grimdark. It's like those rats that get shocked by the electric stick every time they try to eat the treat and then eventually they just huddle in a corner and hide.

Will my efforts be rewarded by more cheerful eroge than I could ever dream of or will I just learn an entire language only to find even more grimdark stories and depression?
