Why did the most badass female character in Fate/Stay Night get dumped for a useless whore like Saber?

Back in high school, I had to be the defense lawyer in a mock court case in a Latin class for learning the legal terms and such, and Medea was the defendant. She only got a few years in prison, I thought I did pretty well considering how many people she murdered. The prosecutor was the son of a real prosecutor as well, I thought that was cool.

This made me really love Caster.
