I just woke up from a dream I had, which featured a short horror game. The game filled me with an incredible sense of dread, that I felt compelled to write as much as I could about it, before it all faded to memory. I will try and limit as much speculation as I can.

The game was called Big Sister Speaks. It was a horror touhou fangame. The gameplay I simply remember being a first person one, and the game itself wasn't that long.

The build up to Momiji in the first few levels I barely remember, outside of the feeling that you had to do things briskly. If you waited too long, maybe alt tabbing or growing hesitant, Momiji would appear. The timer wasn't really for making you rush, but rather to keep you from stalling.

I don't think there were more than 5 levels, and the final is where you meet Momiji proper. The level starts off inside a building. You talk with Aya first, who is there to warn you. She tells you that Momiji isn't actually a tengu, and has been raised as one to try and quell her rage, or something along those lines. In the corner of your vision to the right in the center of the room is a large and wide pillar, with Momiji in the center chained to it. This is the part where I started to really feel the dread, as I did not want to go near Momiji.

In my dream, I did not reach the end of the game, yet I already knew what it was because I sought spoilers. The spoilers weren't as scary to experience as having to play the game itself.

Aya leaves, and you approach Momiji. There's another person there, who is excited to be there to see Momiji. He will die and be killed by Momiji. Momiji is very calm at this point, and has realized she is not a tengu. She asks the player to look up close at her eyes. If the player hesitates too long to fulfill this request, she kills you.

She becomes freed and kills the other person there. In the end credits, she lives with you, acting as a wolf. However, there is always the knowledge of what she really is.

The game was one that, in the dream, I thought would be fine, but instilled great dread as I played it. The game forced you to do things that, even when doing them yielded nothing scary in and of itself, instilled dread. The main point is when Momiji tells you to come look right in her eyes up close. I knew she wouldn't kill you for doing so, but I did not want to get close to Momiji. She terrified me. This fear made me unable to finish Big Sister Speaks.

The dream has slipped from my mind, but I wanted to share what I experienced, because it has been ages since I had a nightmare, and never a Touhou one before.
