I'm watching Sotsu with NiiSama subs as it comes out, then batch downloading the HairColor subs for the rewatch (if they do Sotsu), because those are just NiiSama subs but with the color-coding of the OG anime.

I think so, that's the way it is with BullySubs for Nagatoro. Softsubs can pan, tilt, squish, fade to colors and crazy shit like pic related now, and the fonts they use are loads better than the "official" ones because they're not limited by copyright and shit. Use a media player like mpv so it doesn't break the subs and vomit out garbage characters.
