I'm with you on that, even a condascending response is still a response to that fuck (including the pasta one, funny as it is).
There's always some other dedicated autist, or a few others, that are just as bad as him, at least in the sense of shitting up the thread by responding to each of his insane posts.
The 'reject Ryukishi's answer' fags always eventually fuck off, just gotta keep ignore it.

>"serving a purpose"
Just acting as a foil for whatever idea or other character requires it. I'd say this could be applied to basically every character versus the main character, for example.
>Spending hours upon hours of scenes that contain just these flat characters is not an effective purpose or usage of them. Umineko is filled with these scenes. Not to mention that you also just admitted there are only one or two characters with real development in Umineko, further showing how much of a hack Ryukishi is.
Works with ensemble casts and stuff usually follow a similar structure, by your standards Tolstoy would be in the same level; but that's just my take on those books so if you disagree that's completely fine.
I fully understand not wanting the casual scenes, but I personally really enjoy them in the same way I like Seinfeld or something.
>Practically anything.
I'm just curious about what sort of works you're thinking of, that manage to actually develop a multitude of characters effectively.
Like even the work I cited in my post is often considered a part of the canon, but it relies on the flat characters being used to bounce off deeper ideas and the handful of round characters.
