Eh, it's in the margin of error most of the time, especially for a VN artist. I've seen some truly fucked shit in this genre, thanks to how much of it is done by amateurs on a tight schedule.
Takeuchi is not a bad artist. Far from it, he can draw some truly cool character art, he's definitely one of the greats in the industry. His issues stem from his desire to always draw appealing things. He thinks that Arc's granny skirt was unappealing, so that had to go. He thought that Ciel's "I'm my own barber" haircut was unappealing, so that had to go. On one hand, this is a good mindset - beauty comes first when it comes to art, and when you think otherwise, your laziness will always end up taking over. But balance is important, and some uniqueness is necessary to make characters memorable. That uniqueness is what Takeuchi has been missing.
