One of the worst parts about Umineko is that it's actually pretty easy to figure out who did what, given a bit of time and effort. It was only after I'd read all 8 Episodes and seen the anime that I realized just how much foreshadowing there was in the story—the fact that Battler is in both of the first two games (and might have been in the third, but we don't know for sure) should be obvious to anyone with half a brain. If you play through all six mysteries twice before ever reading a single page of any other book or watching an episode of the anime, chances are good that you'll be able to guess everything by the end.
