Finally, we reached the main clinic of Eientei, which I happily noticed looked like it was about to re-open properly. Now, things really felt like they were going back to normal. I sat in one of the chairs in the waiting room in order to put my boots on, which was difficult when any sort of bending over made every part of me hurt at the same time. I persevered, and eventually I'd managed to pull them on, and I sat back up only to jerk in shock, because in front of me stood Eirin Yagokoro.

Kagerou had wandered outside while I was putting the boots on, so suddenly, it was just Eirin and I in the empty clinic. "Are you leaving?" The doctor asked me, in her usual tone. I nodded slowly, feeling a little exposed. "I want to see you here again. Regardless of your decision about the Hourai Elixir. You came here last night for a counselling session, and I believe that you are still in need of someone to talk to." I stared at her suspiciously for a few moments, then slowly agreed to return in time. I did add that I wouldn't come alone, though. "That is acceptable." Eirin nodded. "Though if you wish for them to accompany you to the session itself, rather than just the building, it should be someone you can absolutely trust with any and all details." I told her that I'd think on it, then stood. "Your body recovers faster than an ordinary human, but I must still recommend that you stay away from any sort of strain for the next several days." I nodded, and after a moment, forced out my thanks. It was slightly difficult, since she had still done some awful things to me, but she seemed to be behaving differently now, so I thought I should try and be nice. Finally, fully dressed, I left Eientei after what had felt like days.

And froze, because before I could take even a step, something blurry, very fast, and white, slammed into the ground in front of me so hard that it left a crater. I felt my jaw drop open as I stared at Fujiwara no Mokou's body, which was leaking a lot of blood and had bits and pieces of bone sticking out at weird angles. It was a little horrifying, and I was suddenly happy that I hadn't had anything to eat recently. I heard a condescending laugh from above, and I looked up to see what could only be Kaguya Houraisan, laughing at Mokou's predicament. I looked back at Mokou, who's bones seemed to be retracting back into her body in a way that made me feel a little queasy. After a few moments, she looked completely uninjured, and she opened her eyes, looked at me and blinked, then immediately launched herself back into the sky without a word. I stood there, staring at the crater for a few moments, then shook my head and walked straight past it. Kagerou had been waiting at the gates, so she hadn't been as close to the crater as I had, though she still did seem like she wanted to leave too.

Kagerou accompanied me to the edge of the Bamboo Forest, and we talked about what she referred to as the Youkai Grassroots Network, which seemed to be a loose group of weaker youkai who banded together. It seemed a little rich considering how Kagerou had not seemed like much of a pushover, but then again, compared to some of the other youkai I'd met, perhaps she was still relatively on the weak side. She was telling me about a girl she had been trying to recruit into the Grassroots Youkai Network, some sort of flying head youkai named Sekibanki. I thought it was kind of funny, because the redheaded waitress, Oseki, in the village was sometimes called just 'Seki' by the owner. When Kagerou said that Sekibanki had red hair, I laughed a little, because it was a funny coincidence.

Finally, we reached the border between the Bamboo Forest and the village and Kagerou told me that she needed to part ways, since she hadn't been home at all since Shameimaru had brought her to Eientei. "I usually go and see Hime - That's Wakasagihime - every day or so. If you ever want to talk, that is." I nodded and said that I'd like to see both of them again, anyway. Then, I thanked her for her help at Eientei and said that we might not have won without her, which elicited another slight blush from the wolf. She nodded once. "Yes, well, er, very good. Happy to help." And then she was gone, back through the Bamboo in a flash.
