I played years ago a little VN called Rei-Nana that had interesting horizontal shooter segments. They were simplistic as the company probably didn't have the money and staff to arrange something complex, but still interesting.

Apparently this company went bankrupt recently. And I also found that this artist is the same guy that did the art for ToHeart. It's interesting because as time went on he must have decided to take a more "creative" approach in regards to anatomy.
