But suddenly, Remilia looked a bit less sure of herself. "Um..." She began. "Are you well?" She asked. I looked up at her, and I supposed that the look in my eyes much have made it quite clear as to how I was doing. I tried to look at my arms and found that my hands had become clenched at some point. They were shaking. "Uh..." She mumbled. I wondered how I was supposed to respond. "Sakuya~" She called for her maid. "I think he's mad at me..." I was gritting my teeth very tightly. "What did I say?" She asked me. "Tell me. I know a lot of things, but I don't know that."

Fortunately, someone was much more attentive to how I was feeling, and suddenly, I felt an arm on my back. "Hey, hey..." Yamame Kurodani knelt beside me, putting her mouth by me eye as she rubbed on my back. "It's okay. I'm here. You're alright." She'd been present for the meeting this morning, so I wasn't surprised that she'd clearly taken it to heart. I grasped her arm and held on tightly. "I saw you from over there. Listen to my voice." She was still whispering to me, and I found that it was calming me down a little bit. Remilia looked...Nervous. Like a child who'd just been shouted at. "Do you want to leave?" Yamame whispered to me. I shook my head, and managed to say that I think I just needed a moment. Then, I forced out a strangled thank you to her for coming over to comfort me. "It's fine. I take care of you and you take care of me. That's what we said, isn't it?"

A few minutes more, and I felt much calmer. I looked up, and found that Remilia was watching me with a slightly nervous expression. "May I make a request of you?" She asked me, though she was still trying to sound like someone much more regal in spite of the uncertainty in her eyes. "I believe that we need to have a conversation. In private." I blinked, then looked over at the other partygoers, just to make sure no one else was listening in. Having a child ask me for a conversation in private was a weird experience.

Plus, I knew that I couldn't do it alone. "I'm coming with him." Yamame said sharply. "Or it's not happening." I nodded, and we stood.

Reimu stood too, and came around to my other side. "I knew something would happen." She muttered. "It's why I was so worried. Are you okay? I'm sorry." I told her that it was okay. "I'll come with you. I-" Then, there was a shout from the other side of the Shrine, where I could see Aunn and Aunn fighting with a group of fairies. There was one in a strange outfit in red, white, and blue who seemed to be winning. It also looked like it was about to turn into a much wider affair, because I could already see the signs of danmaku duels about to start. "Oh, for - Now?" Reimu groaned. "There's not even that many people here yet. Alright, er...I've got to go and calm that down, so I..." She sighed and looked at Yamame. "You've got him, right?" She nodded seriously. "Thank you." She told her quietly, then spun and took off for the group who were starting to get annoyed. "Use my room." She called back as she moved off to break up the fight.

Remilia waved off Sakuya, despite her complaints, then told her to "Go and drink some whiskey like I told you to." I had a feeling that there would be some unintended repercussions from that, but I wasn't in the mood to think about them. We moved back around the Shrine to Reimu's room, where Yamame had piled up the eleven coats that she'd been forced to put on. "Well now, I haven't been in here for months." Remilia announced. "My, Reimu finally replaced that kotatsu. Ah, and the floor looks new. Well, it's not my style, but at least it doesn't look quite so run-down." She turned to look at me. "I've upset you." She said. "It doesn't happen often to someone as charismatic as me." I breathed in deeply and exhaled. Then, I decided that it was best to get everything out into the open now. So, bluntly, I told her that 'stirring things up', as she'd put it, had led to the death of my parents and traumatised me enough that I'd eventually blocked the whole thing from my memory. It had led to Kotohime, who I'd met in the village, losing her parents and almost losing her mind. It had scarred me so deeply that it had taken a mind reader's hypnosis to get to the bottom of it. To hear it described as 'stirring things up a little' had gotten to me. "That's..." Remilia scratched at her arm awkwardly. "But...I didn't kill them?" She asked, looking confused. "So...So why are you mad at me?" She stared at me blankly.

"You stirred all the youkai up!" Yamame replied for me, very sharply. "If you hadn't, then nothing would have happened. No one would have died." She was gripping my hand very tightly. "His parents would still be here." I was very happy that Yamame was here. She really was perfect. "You can't even understand why he's upset? You really are a child, aren't you?" She looked almost as upset as I felt, even though it hadn't happened to her.
