Halo is not great but let's not kid ourselves. It has earned its popularity. There's a reason why it continues to outsell every other FPS on the market. And the market has had years to produce a FPS that can compete with Halo's dominance over the industry. And all have failed. Halo is the Goldeneye of our generation. It's kinda like the Super Smash Brothers of FPS. Fun and easy to get into, hard as hell to master. If I could only buy one I would sooner buy Halo 2 over Half-life 2.

Half-life, doom, Duke Nukem, Turok, and Goldeneye have dated pistol gameplay. Halo's vehicles, unique health system, and duel wielding gave it a unique spin. Just like Smash brothers.

Half-life was linear, easy, and boring. Dues Ex was gimmicky and repetitive. Call of duty was copypasta. And unreal tournament was childish. At least Halo had a semi interesting plot, unique gameplay, and good music.
