To be completely fair, I think Chen is perfect when she's both adorable and dangerous.

Around her masters she's a sweet diligent shikigami who Ran mothers. Relatively new to her human/youkai form Chen is still getting used to the complexities of etiquette and human communication, so she's childlike and sort of innocent in her own way. Away from her masters, however, she is much more animal like, a wild cat who hunts for her prey.

Fortunately, the villagers are more then prepared for most youkai while travelling and know how to protect themselves. So Chen isn't a real threat to anyone from the village, but lost humans from outside would be easy prey to her.

I like the non moe blob Chen only where as Rin is okay all of the time.

Maybe I can learn to like her.
