The dev of this is fortunately working on a WebExtensions version:
https://github.com/piroor/treestyletab/issues/1224

He recently made development builds available here (no idea how usable they are though):
http://piro.sakura.ne.jp/xul/xpi/nightly/
(it's the "treestyletab-we.xpi" one)

The crossed-out bits in pic related are things which have been implemented and things which are impossible to implement, I think.
