Basically this above all else. ZUN made this game specifically to be pleasing to himself as a gamer. That is, he incorporated aspects of other games and things in general that he liked, while keeping out others he didn't. The result could be considered a "dream game" that almost everyone finds entertaining for one reason or another, exactly because it's full of "good", fun aspects of gaming.
