Praise be to Shinki. Despite the many issues the goddess caused when she visited, without those Makaian mushrooms Marisa would still be vomiting out in the woods. As to why she was vomiting in the first place, it’s… it’s probably nothing.

Still, it’s a good day to stay inside and tinker with the supplies Shinki brought over. It’s rare Marisa ever gets to handle regents of such quality and with Mima out there’s not much else to do.

As she working the door suddenly opens and Alice enters holding some sort of concoction.

Nervously greeting her, Marisa says, “Ah, morning ze. I was just uh preparing potions for the fight. Never uh never too prepared, right ze? What do you need?”

Alice sighs, “You don’t need to justify yourself to me. For better or worse we’re on the same side. As for why I’m here… well Mima has been putting it off for too long. You’re old enough to make your own decision.”

Marisa tilts her head. She’d been ready for Alice to start yelling or throwing Danmaku, but this felt unusual for the magician. “Eh? A decision? What are you talking about ze?”

Walking over and placing a sealed glass container of something on the table, Alice answers, “I… Marisa, do you want to become a youkai?”

A youkai?! She’d definitely thought about it for a long time, but Reimu made it rather clear that- well Marisa supposes Reimu is a non-issue now. Still, while it’d make her stronger, it’s a pretty serious decision. Even the safest methods of turning generally involve the consumption of heavy metals which would…

M-Maybe it’d be a good thing. By becoming a youkai magician she’d be leaving old problems aside. She wouldn’t have to worry if…

Alice cuts that train of thought off as she says, “I imagine that your silence isn’t from overwhelming joy at the offer, and you’re torn on the matter?”

Marisa nods prompting Alice to sigh, “This is why I was opposed to waiting to ask you. I’m not going to try to push you either way. Take your time and make up your mind, just remember that waiting without making a decision will eventually become a decision.”

Marisa nods, “Yeah… I… do you mind if I go out for a bit to think?”

Alice shrugs. There’s a certain earnestness to her that Marisa has rarely ever seen, “If you want. It’s your life, remember that either way you’ll live with your choice for the rest of your potentially very long life.”

That’s rather obvious, though Marisa does not point that fact out as she departs. Grabbing her broom, she lets it take her where it will. Maybe a change of scenery will clear things up.

Am I a shitty writer for posting a cliffhanger without much substance? Yes. Nevertheless, posting something regardless of quality makes me feel like I've not completely abandoned my original goal of one post a day, so I'm doing it anyway.
