No one likes anime cards. They don't work.

> how can I read japanese subs if I can't read japanese?
by using yomichan. yomichan can show you how each word is read and what it means. but first you need to install mpv and mpvacious in order to "connect" yomichan and the japanese subtitles.
if you continue reading the guide, it has a page about yomichan and a page about mpv/mpvacious.
> Am I supposed to just watch things raw?
not necessary, but it is okay to do so.
> been watching anime over a decade so there are definitely certain words and phrases I would pick up on but most I won't.
if you've been watching with english subs, most likely you know less than 100 words total; english subs are extremely ineffective if your goal is to learn japanese.

this guy is a troll
not gonna make any promises. there's a lot of work that still has to be done on the pitch accent add-on, and then there are multiple other add-ons that are still kept secret, so it's gonna be a while before AJT makes a successor program for mpvacious. for now i can say only that momento badly needs a replacement.

> is there any new type of cards?
there's only one type of cards approved by us.
https://tatsumoto.neocities.org/blog/discussing-various-card-templates.html#targeted-sentence-cards-or-mpvacious-cards
targeted sentence cards
read about them here https://tatsumoto.neocities.org/blog/discussing-various-card-templates.html#targeted-sentence-cards-or-mpvacious-cards
you don't need it.
if you want to automatically copy text to clipboard => mpvacious
if you want to automatically paste it and look up words => yomichan search
>do you understand how strange of thing this is to do?
no. is it your first day on /djt/?
>what most people would do is contact the site admin with the outdated info, write your new portion, and then ask for it to be included.
quiz knows about it. he will never update anything because it contradicts his agenda. he's been damaging the entire Japanese learning community for several years.
>Can you name a few things that are severely outdated to warrant doing this?
1) he recommends "animecards". here, we don't do animecards anymore, we do TSCs.
2) he has a picture of a TSC on his site and calls it a "sentence card", assuming it has the same pros and cons. that's manipulation.
3) he recommends grammar guides that i don't endorse
4) he talks about kanji studies in a way people did it in 2018. doesn't mention the jp1k method because of his agenda.
5) the anki setup article recommends harmful add-ons and damaging settings. he doesn't admit it.
6) "Discussing the different Anki card types" is pure politics, doesn't mention TSCs at all, as i've said earlier
7) has instructions for ShareX and visual novels, assuming that you should run proprietary malware.
8) recommends Anacreon script instead of mpvacious
9) recommends Anacreon retimer instead of Autosubsync-mpv

sad but true. mpvacious is faster because it's keyboard-driven.

Thanks. If you want to make cards like this, you can use this template: https://tatsumoto-ren.github.io/blog/discussing-various-card-templates.html#targeted-sentence-cards-or-mpvacious-cards

But you have to adapt the fields like this

SentKanji {sentence}
SentFurigana {sentence}
VocabKanji {expression}
VocabFurigana {expression}

Then for each card you add furigana for SentFurigana and VocabFurigana with "SimpleFurigana" addon, and highlight the vocab word in "SentenceKanji" with Ctrl + B.

It takes a bit of tweaking but once you got it you got it.

core decks are complete shit. everyone who's been here for more than 2 days knows it.
i recommend ankidrone starter pack because the N5 deck has no useless vocab and good examples.
