Then there's the birthing methods. Take this for example. I'm not going to say this was the beginning of mammalian birth, jsut an example. You cannot do something like this with the tendril method. There are several other abuse examples you need the mammalian method to do. The author decided to create yukkuri that could reproduce this way just so they could injure them with an idea that didn't apply to the idea of yukkuri reproducing via tendrils. That is what I mean by them 'making shit up as they go along'. It's like deciding that a human's face exploding is awesome, so you draw a comic where punching someone's face causes it to explode. There are examples of this, but they at least bother to explain it away with 'superpowers lol'.

Then there's my other issue. Consider the amount of force used to shoot the ko- out. Do you think it would've survived anyways, if it wasn't shot? So what's the point of shooting it in the first place? Why bother killing something that can't even survive on at all, and only exists because there appears to be a completely inexhaustable supply of them?

Remiryas with certain bodies or not (although honestly, I'd rather there were NO bodies. How the fuck did those come into existance?). I really don't care if they have bodies or not.
Stalk method. I think the 'birthing cannon' was just made because someone realized that if they gave birth that way, you could use it as skeet (why the fuck would it shoot that hard) or punch them in. And it was convenient to make shit up, so they did.
Short term memories. The only way I can see to accomodate both is 'their short memory is because remembering stuff isn't taking it easy, so as long as they can take it easy they won't bother to remember much. If they can't take it easy, they remember the trauma". But that's probably just me looking into this shit too much.
Honestly, it's the unrealistic behavior that really annoys me, much more than the inconsistencies like remiryas. Siblings eaching each other, the super-yukkuri-launch birth, even sitting on a yukkuri bother me more than remiryas sometimes having a body.

Was this done? I know the other cannon-birth one was

That reminds me of that myth, where someone accidentally swallowed an octopus (or snake) egg and gave birth to it in his/her stomach.
It was busted, though. The gastric acid dissolves the egg, and considering yukkuri physiology, that would have happened to the girl in the story.
About the swarm destroyng the crops: walls, motherfucker. Ever heard of them?
