it's true that most "strong monsters" (such as all big Dragons or Foreign Gods) can't be hit by those permanent effects, but they mostly come alone and are easy to run away from anyway - most the time. And while permanent effects don't hurt them, variety effects verily do. This is why Satori shines later on: Fuck yeah Enervate! Fuck yeah Acid Storm! See this evil motherfucker? Disable his 510 PATK and he's a sitting duck.
