I don't think I can even answer this properly because I grew up with it. Despite being born and raised in the West I've indulged in barely any Western media. Guess I'll try.

>Has it changed your perspective on other countries' entertainment, including American?
Main thing is I think most other countries animation has a far uglier style compared to your typical anime and I do notice more violence in American movies, but that isn't to say violence doesn't exist in Japanese media.
>How has it changed you overall as a person?
I have met many amazing people due to being an otaku. I've started learning Japanese and it made me realise how much I love language learning overall. I also wouldn't have gotten married if not for visual novels, as bizarre as that sounds. So I owe the majority of my happiness to being an otaku.
>What do you expect from entertainment in general?
Good characters. That's the most important thing for me. I want to really feel for a character and truly see things from a perspective that isn't my own.
>It's an honest question so that I can understand the international otaku community.
