Guys I'm having a hard time understanding what exactly this "ほど" does after the 染み渡る.
For context, it's comes from the song "Shout and Bites" (Versailles)

>絡み付いた薔薇の棘が黒い死神を突き刺して笑う
Karami tsuita bara no toge ga Kuroi shinigami wo tsuki sashite warau
>絡み付いた薔薇の毒が染み渡るほど Ah…眠れないね
Karami tsuita bara no doku ga shimi wataru hodo Ah...nemurenai ne


I understand the typical use for "hodo", like describing the extent of something in the verse below:
淫らな程綺麗ね
midarana hodokirei ne

But I don't get what it does after the "shimiwataru" in the first example, could you guys help me?
