I haven't written anything in a long time, so I wanted to do a greentext for Christmas. It came out a lot longer than expected, not sure how many posts it will be.

>all while regularly getting the feeling of being watched by unseen observers, hearing unearthly howls in the distance or feeling areas of supernatural cold pass over you
>at least your sizeable cabin and the nearby town are nice and cozy, and all the mamono spying on you have steered clear so far

>just as you're absorbed in thought, looking at a particularly complex and beautiful snowflake at your portable workbench, you notice the gentle snowfall has intensified into a real blitz and the temperature has dropped violently
>you feel a presence close by and turn to look behind your shoulder
>there really is a form of a woman standing a dozen steps away, partially obscured by clouds of fine snow blowing on the wind
>clearly a monster, on the more powerful side too based on the situation
>it's more or less common knowledge among mages that the monsters aren't as dangerous as the more common folk think, maybe not in the violent sense of "dangerous", but you should keep your guard up nonetheless
>you greet her cautiously: 'Good evening, miss. Do you have some business with me?'
>"...I'm sorry if I startled you, Sir mage. I was just curious of what you're doing" the woman's voice surprises you, not the quiet coldness, but how delicate and girly it was

>you turn fully to get a better look at your surprise visitor and quickly make note the details
>the aura of cold, the skin not just pale but outright a shade of blue, an extravagant ice crystal- decorated dress, a crown of ice, an expressionless but incredibly beautiful face with curious markings on her cheeks
>the initial assessment of the "woman" was off too, just an optical illusion
>she's looks more like a young girl with barely anything on her chest, masked by a combination of noticeable hips and thick bare thighs
>and the way she's standing on top of the untouched snow in high heels, leaving only faint prints whereas you had to dig a trench with magic just to trek anywhere
>your measuring equipment won't give accurate readings with this much ambient magic around anyway, so you might as well stop working and converse a bit

>'You're an Ice Queen, aren't you?' you blurt out, eager to show off your knowledge
>a faint blush comes to the girl's cheeks as she answers: "...Y-yes.. But I'm merely a princess, mother is the queen."
>you apologize for your rudeness, introduce eachother and ask her if the people back at the palace aren't worried she's out here alone
>"...That's.. I can come and go as I please. The weather doesn't bother me, any bad guys wouldn't be able to even get near me and even the other mamono that have been watching you get scared off when I get clo.. Ah."
>the Ice Princess stops, then bows slightly and continues "...It's true, I have watched you working from afar several times now, Sir Anon. I humbly apologize for my un-ladylike behavior."
>you assure her it's fine and you were going go back to the cabin soon anyway while you're packing up the gear

>she does seem like a very refined and nice girl, her species isn't known to be aggressive, younger mamono have less intense abilities so she probably wouldn't freeze your entire cabin, and you ARE a little flattered her magic seemingly isn't considering you "bad guys", but...
>in the end you decide to accept her offer and lead the way
>she walks beside you, but both of you seem to be too shy to continue the conversation
>glancing at her you notice the sight her is almost hypnotic
>wearing elegant shoes fit more for a ballroom she practically glides over snow that should give away and bury her up to her chest, the gusts of wind barely move her long hair, every crumb of snow that falls on her just flows off, and the massive cuts on her dress...
>you quickly turn your gaze somewhere else and before you know it you've reached your cabin
