Because if he's actually the biological son then it would mean the mother has ceased loving the father, split up with him, etc. Or worse, betrayed him. None of those things fly among MGE girls. The husband dying doesn't work either, given all the stuff that KC has developed about how the bonds between a monster girl and her husband transcend death.

That said, KC has no issue with a monster adopting a boy and eventually making him her husband, indeed he's noted it's not an unusual outcome when monsters adopt boys.

Well we have Merse. She may not have been born an echidna but she gives an idea of what one would look like in the more updated style. We also have a few other depictions KC has made of echidnas over the years, like the MGE volume 1 cover art.

To be clear, the only MGE lamia so far that actually has shown their butt is this pic of the echidna, and even that is only partial.

As far as I'm aware, people base the "100% human skin" idea on a piece of art that KC did for a doujin compilation that may or may not be meant to be MGE lamias.

I doubt it'd be a group of echidnas, usually at least, they're too rare for that. But a newly independent echidna may well invite some of her siblings to live in the dungeon, or employ other monsters, and give them whichever men she deems to not be quite what she is looking for.

And perhaps avoiding these complications is why some echidnas use their hero-sensing abilities to guide and groom a husband from childhood rather than wait for him to find them.
