I can explain that part. Hecate's priesthood are the sort that would've called themselves the sons or daughters of Hecate, so in that way they are her children. It coincides with the fact one of Hecatia's spheres of influence is the rearing of children, childcare, and protection of the home as altars to her were frequently found near the entryway to homes, near town amd temple gates, at the entrances of temples to other gods, etc. Hecatia is also thr goddess of witchcraft, necromancy, magic, and the dead so her being the patron goddess of monsters also makes sense, as they would then be considered her children too. Another example of family titles being used in the priesthood of Hecate is Medea, who was a priestess of Hecate and was also said to be a daughter of hers, despite Hecate being a virgin and Medea not literally being born by Hecate.
