All that needs to happen to bring back a semblance of old is more lenient moderation (allow "board culture", ban meta discussion about what belongs or whatever outside of meta threads like this one) and limit generals to fucking one per topic. That's really the only difference between five years ago and now. Other than all the users that moderation has driven from the board.
