I'm looking forward to this. Not going to lie, the KS demo is what got me into VNs, and now I've read a large amount of VN sin english (that isn't shit, or nukige) and a number of ones in Japanese, recently finished little busters EX(and kud wafter), loved it.

I still am looking back on this with fervor, but I am sure with my experiences now I will surely be slightly disappointed. But that is ok, it will still be fun. What I am really dreading is it's community, the average /a/ person, or god forbid, the people who post on /ks/'s official forums. /a/ is already bad enough and I can barely find salvageable threads on shoujo or magical girl shows to talk in, anything remotely "epic" instantly gets filled with the idiots of the internet who's idea of a sentence is

and that isn't discussion, it is just dumb. Fun discussion was shit like sora no woto. (The new show madoka looks like it could be fun to talk about, but the "magical girl" in it's title is really confusing most /a/ people, since most of them have never seen a real magical girl show except sailor moon. spoilers, it isn't going to be a normal magical girl show.)
I'll honest, I act like that sometimes, mostly in live threads during soccer/american football games on /sp/ but that is because you are supposed to act like a drunken retard while watching sports, not while trying to discuss plot, plot holes, expectations and such.

I see you found that old "recommended" list, sadly it is old and busted. The new "newfriends VNs" is Sharin no kuni. After that you can try a long game like Fate or Ever17. Then try some love it or hate it classics like Symphonic rain and cross channel.


Symphonic rain is incidentally my favorite VN behind little busters. You might want to give it a try, especially if you love easy music.
Kira Kira is also a very good starter VN with a fun story, and greatly entertaining characters.

If you can read japanese just do Little busters, although I hear the translation is coming along nicely.
