>but secret art of translating/editing VNs?

Basically, you become familiar enough with Japanese culture and general language that you can mostly understand the text with the help of a dictionary.

Then you occasionally post some snippets online, hope someone can review them for you, and go from there.

A perfect translator is one fluent in both languages, but you can get away with being mediocre in the original language and fluent in the translated one. As long as you can make it sound good in the end language most readers won't care. It's not like they actually understand the source anyways.

Importantly, you have to be willing to put in the time to smooth your translation so the glitches aren't apparent to a non-native speaker.

Just remember, if you're doing this for anyone other than yourself, don't bother.

I said it was generic, not that it was terrible. Of course, since your reply is phrased to troll instead of actually contribute, you purposely misconstrued my words.

Sometimes I feel like playing a generic JRPG, and EO is where I turn. I like the first-person dungeon crawling element, but the series is more or less just a bunch of dungeon craws. Form a party, explore an area, open a new area via exploration, repeat. Overarching theme or plot? Loosely. Standard Atlus style? Yes. Bad? Not really. Good? Not really. Generic? Yes.

Also, if you bothered to count the characters, you'd see that post is right at the 2k limit. No space to expand on the reasons, but your knee-jerk reaction doesn't care about that, now does it.
