Was 90's actually THAT bad for Japan?
I read that the great recession that we Americans experienced and started 2008 was similar to what Japan experienced in 1989.

I wouldn't be shocked when that spectacular bubble burst in the late 80s caused many jap youth back then to become NEET & hikky and became hardcore otaku for comfort... thus popularizing and mainstreaming the terms NEET/Hikikomori/Otaku to the jap news press.
