I finally got around to getting a dimmer switch for the aquarium heater, and it works pretty well.

It still gets pretty hot even on the lowest setting but not so hot that it'd burn my hand, like it would without it. I've tested it out a couple times with the dolphin already, and it feels pretty good.

I have noticed, now that it's somewhat cool enough to touch when heating, that the last inch and a half or so doesn't heat up since the beige part is the real heating element (thought it was the black part around the edge).

Still, it heats up very quickly and feels pretty durable, so I'll keep using it. The dimmer switch also functions nicely as an on/off switch.
