/jp/ - Otaku Culture

How would I go about learning Japanese? I figure I need to learn and language other than English at some point, and there's nothing I'd like to learn other than this. I've got time, I just don't want to waste it going in a direction that won't help in the long run, so if you've got any advice, that'd be great.

Didn't really know where I should put this, but ya'll seemed like you'd know more about this than any other board, for obvious reasons.

Just found out that even if I do graduate I won't be able to get into the JET program because they expect you to be very fluent in Japanese

Bonus: I got to a school that doesn't offer foreign language at all, so of course not Japanese. My last "formal" Japanese class (that is, a formal setting) was two years ago.
