If future Vocaloids have the full phoneme editing options they have now then you'll always be able to make them not sound like a real person, even if they get some assisted/inference mode to humanize the voice. That's the best scenario in my opinion.

If they double down on the NEUTRINO strategy and the voice is generated by black box neural networks and best you can do is play with it's parameters until you get the result you want given your song input, then it became just a cheap replacement singer and not a full instrument anymore.
