You can clearly see her getting unhinged during the montage when she's doing stuff like stalking Rika.

The montage is her basically becoming early Satokowashi anime Satoko, after she gave up on Satoshi recovering, with stalking Rika in St.Lucia, attempting to stop her from studying or fighting with her.

There were a couple of deaths too (river fight from the anime, then the house break down, which was already established, and the clinic burning), but the issue isn't really random stuff ruining her life, which is why she tries different scenarios, not just the Okinomiya path over and over for example. Even before the tragedies her happiness fades away starting in late 83 which is when the St.Lucia stuff starts in the manga.

As for Satoko causing tragedies, aside from her becoming crazy/witch, Eua is also set up as an antagonist in a direct way since Satoko outright talks about how the tragedies are meant to entertain her in exchange for the power she's receiving.

I'm surprised there was no chandelier. He even referenced some anime scenes in the montage of Satoko's loops, so changing the most memorable moment is really unexpected.
